All neutrals, of course.
The company I work for has opted for a casual summer dress code, and I think is really influencing my overall style. I’m currently swapping trousers with denim, heels for sandals… let’s just say I could get used to this. I’ve also been watching a lot of YouTube videos on building a capsule wardrobe and it’s been inspiring me to simplify my closet and create a more minimalist look. Let me know in the comments below if you’ve ever tried a capsule wardrobe and what you thought. Maybe I’ll bite the bullet and give it a go for fall! This post came out of me realizing that sometimes my favorite pieces are just high quality basics. They aren’t really ground-breaking, but super effortless and make getting ready a breeze!
Summer is all about lightweight bags. I picked this gray crossbody up from Nordstrom back in June and basically haven’t put it down. It’s by the brand Halogen and it’s fairly reasonably priced as well. Biggest bummer: I can’t find it ANYWHERE online. It hasn’t even been that long since I bought it, which is weird. I’ve linked a similar style here. I love the silver chain, but super love that the chain is only part of the strap. This is definitely a perfect piece to dress up or down, and it goes with just about everything. It will be carrying me over from summer to fall, no problem at all.
I’m SO obsessed with this dainty gold bracelet from & Other Stories (which by the way is pretty much my new favorite store!). I failed at finding the exact bracelet online, but I found a similar one here. A few of my favorite bloggers have been wearing their pieces lately and am I definitely jumping on the bandwagon. At first I thought they only had stores abroad – I bought this in the Dublin store… but then BEST news ever, they have a location at the Americana in Glendale, CA! Insert praise hands.
If you’ve followed my blog for the past year, you know I’m a skinny jeans kind of gal. Well, recently I’ve been branching out. I thought for the longest time that girlfriend jeans would look terrible on me so I avoided them, but I had a moment of spontaneity recently and tried on a pair from J.Crew. These are the vintage cropped jeans (in regular, not petite) and they are currently on clearance for $70. I like the slight patch work detail at the top and the distressed knee. I love how relaxed these jeans are, and they’re pretty comfortable too! I’m currently browsing the website to see if they come in other washes – I want more pairs! Vintage crop for the win!
These may be the first gray sandals I’ve ever purchased. Yes, you read that right. I love that they compliment my Halogen bag quite nicely and they’re suede! These summer must haves are from the brand 1.Slate and you can find them here. I’m a fan of the asymmetrical straps and the very cushioned insole. These shoes were made for walking! (okay, maybe not, but they are very comfortable!)
Last, but definitely not least… this is my new favorite basic tee. I recently discovered Whistles while in London, and it’s the best store! They do ship to the US as well, which is an added bonus. During the summer, I live in short sleeve t-shirts. I don’t actually have that many simple basic ones, so I’m constantly washing them and rewashing them. It’s quite a process. I’ve recently invested in a few to add to my wardrobe, including this one. I like that it’s long enough for tucking into jeans, and I like the longer sleeve length.
