Recently Sean and I took a day trip to Santa Barbara. One of Sean’s new year’s resolutions is to go on more adventures together, so we’ve been trying to go somewhere or doing something unique every weekend. So far we’ve been able to keep it up, and it’s genuinely been a blast. I love exploring new places, trying out new restaurants, and escaping the busyness of my Pasadena life. It’s also such a gift to get to do that with Sean. Whenever we were dating we would frequently take day trips, or try something new together locally. Since we’ve been married that’s still something that we’ve prioritized and are intentional about. I think it’s really important to invest in quality time with your spouse. I’m thankful that we have the opportunity to pour into our relationship through these adventures.
While in Santa Barbara, we went on a hike up in the mountains behind West Point University. It was shocking to see how lush the greenery was, and how much water was in the streams (a nice change from our typically dry hiking trails). After hiking we went to lunch at Chase Bar and Grill on State street (which was so delicious!) and wandered through the shops. I actually bought this white fringe shawl at one of the local boutiques. They had a Pressed Juicery near by, so Sean and I tried the Strawberry Almond juice for the first time. Oh my gosh, it was amazing. If you have a Pressed near you, you need to try it!
We ended our Santa Barbara day by walking down to the pier and enjoying the ocean waves, and then snapped a few photos at City Hall. If you visit Santa Barbara, the City Hall area is one place you don’t want to skip over. The views of the city are incredible, and the architecture and beauty is to die for.
All in all, we had an amazing getaway! Santa Barbara is so charming and I love how relaxing it is being close to the ocean. I’m thankful for spontaneous day trips, for a husband who makes life fun, and for how blessed we are with the time and resources to make the most of our newly married weekends. This season is my favorite and one I want to document and capture as much as possible.
If you have any recommendations on where we should adventure to next, feel free to leave me a comment below and let me know. We’re always looking for new places to visit.
